Silex is looking for a friendly, well-spoken Business Development Intern to assist with expanding our client base. The Business Development Intern is an individual contributor reporting directly to the Account Executive. As Business Development Intern, you will play a critical role in growing Silex’s presence in the TN/KY IT markets, as well as converting prospects that fit our ideal customer profile into sales opportunities.

As with any high performing team, you will be measured by opportunity generation. Being the first line of engagement with future clients, your responsibilities will include generating potential leads, soliciting potential clients, facilitating sales, and connecting clients with the right team members. Once the internship is complete, there will be an opportunity to convert to a full time Account Executive should you meet or exceed all documented goals.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage a high volume of daily outbound emails and calls to potential clients
  • Develop targeted call lists
  • Utilize existing email templates and cadences/create personalized emails to engage prospects
  • Process unqualified inquiries to pre-qualified opportunities
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Collaborate and stay up to date with the team on our product and service offerings
  • Sell company’s broad range of IT outsourcing and consulting services

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in relationship development and opportunity identification is a plus
  • Ability to self-educate based on the latest industry trends, news, and thought leadership
  • Is self-motivated with the ability to work effectively and autonomously with minimal management direction, self-discipline for a work-at-home structure
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Has strong ethics and personal integrity
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet deadlines and have a strong sales aptitude
  • Has the ability to develop relationships at every level in order to get to the decision-maker
  • Has a proven ability to listen, extrapolate information, and leverage resources to effectively provide solutions for customer needs

Location: Remote

Hours: Flexible – with the understanding that applicants will be attending college


  • Major in Business, Communications, Marketing, or equivalent field
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to have in-depth and knowledgeable conversations around technical subjects
  • Ability to work with cross-functional and diverse teams to drive results
